Helping the children of actors

We offer financial support, information and advice to actors whose children
have special needs, learning disabilities or long-term ill-health, up to the
age of 21. We can help with childcare costs and other expenses for actors
who are living with cancer or other illness, or facing family crisis.

Financial hardship can hit us all and at any time, and for many reasons
such as relationship breakdown, separation, divorce, single parenting or
struggling on a low income. We may be able to help you and when you
contact us be completely assured that we work in a confidential manner
and under no circumstances disclose to a third party.

The awards we make often help parents with the following types of cost:

  • After-school activities
  • Play schemes
  • Groups and sports clubs
  • Music lessons
  • Dance and drama
  • Extra-curricular classes
  • Additional childcare
  • School uniform
  • Sports kit and clothing
  • School trips linked with the curriculum
  • Extra tuition to help with dyslexia or maths
  • Additional therapy for children with disabilities

Our eligibility criteria are simple: One or both parents are a professional actor, or, if you or the other parent are no longer working, acting must have been a significant part of your or their career to date.

Unfortunately, TACT cannot pay private school fees.

TACT Education Fund

Maintenance grants of £1,200 per year each for students on performing arts degrees (drama, music, dance etc) who have a parent who is a professional actor.

It is a very small charity fund, so it can only fund a few students at any time.  Please email robert@tactactors.org for more information about applying.

NB: You must have a parent who is/was a professional actor as well as performing yourself!
